This eclipse begins its path in the southern Indian Ocean, making its first landfall in Western Australia and then traversing the Australian continent to the Gold Coast, then over the Tasman Sea and the north island of New Zealand before leaving the Earth's surface.
Towns and locations within the path of total eclipse include Geraldton, Dongara, Mount Magnet, Wiluna, Warburton, Uluru, the Alice Springs airport, Bedourie, Windorah, Charleville, Roma, Miles (again), Moonie, Toowoomba, southern Brisbane, Byron Bay, Lord Howe Island, and the North island of New Zealand.
